Love By Bullying Never Works

Don’t you just hate bullies! They try to get what they want by bullying you, by intimidating you, and by making you feel inferior to them. If you are like us, this NEVER works! Yet, so many good folks succumb to the bully. And we wonder why?

So what is a bully? In the simplest terms, a bully is someone who can’t get what he/she wants through normal means. What they want is power. When you deny them that power they resort to forceful means to get what they want.

Here is how it works in love and marriage. One of the folks in the relationship wants something – be it a new car, a new apartment, a new dishwasher, or a new toy of some variety. The other person involved in the relationship does not. As you might guess, all heck breaks loose!

The “bully” in the relationship must get what he/she wants. So instead of acting rationally (i.e., Do we have enough money to pay for this?), the bully resorts to name-calling (i.e., You are always keeping me from buying things!”), intimidation (“If you don’t let me buy this I am walking out the door.”), or they resort to making you feel inferior (i.e., How could someone like you be so stupid?”).

If you are like most people, you would rather “have peace.” So in the interest of maintaining harmony in your relationship, you fall prey to the bullying – you give them what they want.

But here is the deal – this strategy never works! You give them what they want and they then do it to you again! You always succumb to their wishes. You always lose. Letting them win is a bad idea.

Truth is, real loving relationships are not about you and me, they are about US! They are about WE. As we are fond of saying, “It takes two to Tango.” You cannot Tango by yourself. Until you learn this important lesson in your relationship, your relationship will be doomed to failure. Finding the courage to stand up to a bully is perhaps the only way to effectively stop the bullying.

So, how do you handle the bully in your loving relationship?

The answer in a nutshell is, never succumb to their wishes when they resort to bullying. Keep your composure. Follow the wisdom of Rudyard Kipling when he says:

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you,
But make allowance for their doubting too;
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
If you can dream -- and not make dreams your master;
If you can think -- and not make thoughts your aim;
If you can meet with Triumph and Disaster
And treat those two imposters just the same.

The simple truth is, bullies should never be allowed to win – even if they are your lover or your spouse. True loving relationships are about making important decisions together. Once you fall into the trap of intimidation and bullying, your relationship begins its dissent into the poverty of your relationship. Rarely does a relationship recover from this.

Be strong. Be brave. Never succumb to a bully, even if it is someone you love deeply, as to do so diminishes the value of your relationship, forever.

These are among the most important lessons of love and of life.

Second win in Slovakia

THE national Under-21 team, despite having only 14 players available, notched their second victory in the Slovak Division One league by edging FK LAFC Lucenec 1-0 on Saturday.

Midfielder Mohd Affize Mamat scored the winner in the 61st minute.

The team were without several key players including Gary Steven Robart, A. Tamil Arasu, Wan Zack Haikal Wan Nor and Zamir Selamat, who were all nursing injuries.

Coach Azraai Khor described the victory as morale boosting especially to those who played in the absence of key players.

"I had 14 players available as 11 were injured, so I did not expect a good result. It proves that even my fringe players are doing fine here," said Azraai via e-mail yesterday.

"It's a good sign. My players are currently playing their best football and I hope to see better results soon."

The team, after earning two wins from nine league matches, have five matches left to play in Slovakia.

They will also compete in next month's Obama Cup in Michigan.

Chelsea youngsters to get their chance as Abramovich curbs big-spending

Roman Abramovich has declared the end of Chelsea’s ‘spend, spend, spend’ era.

The Blues owner has invested a staggering £760million of his own money since buying the club from Ken Bates in 2003.

But he will not bankroll any more of the record-breaking summer outlays that have marked his Stamford Bridge reign.

While Carlo Ancelotti will not be denied access to transfer funds, there will be only a handful of fresh faces, with five members of the academy promoted into the first team squad.

And with only the occasional “exceptional” transfer fee coming from Abramovich’s personal funds, it means Ancelotti will be expected to fund summer dealings from player sales.

The new blueprint is the logical extension of a policy of self-sufficiency which has long appeared wishful thinking. But it comes with all plans for this summer on hold to the end of the season after Abramovich decided he would no longer splash the cash with abandon.

And Ancelotti, who last night told his players they remain masters of their own title destiny with three matches to go, signaled his happiness with the policy.

He said: “The only sure thing will be that, next season, there will be five players from the academy in the squad. That’s sure.

“Some players will maybe move on. Some we will move. It’s not because we don’t have the money. We have very good young players and this is the time to put them in the squad for next year.”

Ancelotti named the five as French winger Gael Kakuta, Dutch defenders Jeffrey Bruma and Patrick Van Aanholt, Serbian midfielder Nemanja Matic and Italian striker Fabio Borini, who have all made fleeting appearances this term.

With the expectation of three or four arrivals, Ancelotti hinted that Chelsea may not be involved in the sort of auctions that saw them pay huge fees for the likes of Michael Essien, Shaun Wright-Phillips and Andriy Shevchenko.

With Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini raising the prospect of bidding for Fernando Torres, Ancelotti said: “I don’t know if the fans would rather see Torres than Kakuta.

“I’ve seen Kakuta in the Champions League and the fans were very happy then.

“Kakuta is a new player. They will see new players.

“They’ll be happy if Chelsea win the title and the FA Cup. They will see some new players in the future.

“If Mancini wants Torres, he’s a good choice.

“Every team has to take the players they need.

“We have Didier Drogba and Nicolas Anelka, and that’s enough for us.

“The decisions I take on who stays and who goes does not depend on winning the league. We will take decisions at the end of the season.

“We will have two months to make a decision on contracts.”

Ancelotti will likely to be in the market for a back-up keeper, right-back and midfielder, as well as an extra front-man, but the restrictions will keep his outlay well south of the £50m mark.

Rooney tells Capello: I will be fit for the World Cup

Liverpool face Europa striker crisis

LONDON: Rafael Benitez is facing a mounting striker crisis ahead of the Europa League semi-final clash with Atletico Madrid after Dirk Kuyt limped out of Liverpool's 4-0 victory over Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Netherlands international had to be substituted moments into the second half with what appeared to be a calf strain.

He is rated extremely doubtful for Thursday's crucial encounter at Anfield, when Liverpool will look to overcome a 1-0 deficit against the Spaniards and keep alive their hopes of securing some silverware this season.

But it seems there is every chance Kuyt will be joining Fernando Torres and David Ngog on the sidelines, leaving Benitez desperately short of options in attack as he looks to make the Europa League final and catch Aston Villa and Tottenham in the on-going race to finish fourth in the Premier League.

Kuyt will undergo intensive treatment in desperate bid to be fit but Benitez said: "We will have to wait and see with him. They (medical staff) are working with him now. It's a problem in his calf but we will have to wait and see what happens."

Benitez remains convinced Liverpool can secure Champions League qualification and finish the season on a high note in the wake of the win at Burnley, which condemned Brian Laws' side to relegation from the top flight.

Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard scored twice with Maxi Rodriguez and Ryan Babel also on the score sheet.

"It was a good performance. The team worked hard because Burnley made things tough for us in the first half," said Benitez.

"Burnley are fighting and were strong, but we had more time and space in the second half and it made a big difference."-- AFP

Federer: Foolish to write off Rafael

ROME: Roger Federer admitted on Sunday he was shocked his old rival and four-time French Open champion Rafael Nadal had been written off as a spent force.
Roger Federer.
Roger Federer.

The World No 1, who will renew his rivalry with the Spaniard at the Rome Masters this week, likened the criticism aimed at Nadal to the experience he went through a year ago.

Back then, many people were claiming that Federer was past his best as he had not yet won a tournament that season and had dropped to No 2 in the world rankings.

And yet he finished the year as World No 1 once again, having won two more majors and having completed a career Grand Slam.

Until a week ago, when he claimed a sixth straight Monte Carlo Masters crown, Nadal had not won a tournament since Rome last year, an 11-month drought.

"I was surprised to hear that everyone thought that Rafa was not playing so well," said Federer.

"He surely should have won Qatar in January because he was playing so well over there and for those who saw the match against (Nikolay) Davydenko (in the final) he was clearly the guy but Davydenko got lucky, saved match point and played incredibly in the third set," said the Swiss.

"Things would have been very different going into the Australian Open but then he pulled out injured (in the quarters) and so everybody gets negative.

"So even if he wins everything after that then people are not going to be happy because the focus is on the Australian Open.

"So I think that there was a little too much negativity around Rafa and I went through the same thing (last year).

"It's true, 11 months for a player like him is a long time without winning a title but you'll have to assume that once the French Open was on and the clay season on, then he would be back on again." -- AFP

Run-up to World Twenty20: IPL chief suspended hours after final

MUMBAI: Indian cricket authorities have suspended the head and driving force behind the money-spinning IPL tournament in a bid to stem an escalating crisis involving tax and match-fixing allegations.

After a week of intense speculation that Indian Premier League boss Lalit Modi faced the axe, the news came late on Sunday, just hours after the final of a tournament he built into a multi-billion-dollar industry.

A statement from the president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which owns the IPL, said he had been suspended with immediate effect and been given two weeks to prove his innocence.

"The alleged acts of individual misdemeanours of Lalit K. Modi, chairman IPL and vice president BCCI, have brought a bad name to the administration of cricket and the game itself," said a statement from president Shashank Manohar.

The suspension caused waves around India, with a headline on the Times of India website reading: "Modi all but hanged without trial".

The seeds of Modi's downfall were sown two weeks ago when he revealed the ownership details of a new franchise set to join the glitzy and globally popular IPL in 2011.

In one of his numerous postings on micro-blogging site Twitter, he embarrassed a high-profile member of the government, junior foreign minister Shashi Tharoor, by leaking how his girlfriend had been given a free stake in the new team.

Under pressure from the opposition, which accused Tharoor of misusing his office to secure benefit for himself, the minister was forced to resign, embarrassing the Congress-led government.

Since then, the finance ministry has launched a wide-ranging tax probe into the IPL, the BCCI and the owners of its franchises -- powerful business and Bollywood figures -- and many blame Modi for bringing the tax man to their door.

The investigation has sparked a media frenzy, with daily leaks -- though nothing has been proved so far -- about Modi's unpaid tax liabilities, general corruption and kickbacks and even possible match-fixing.

Result rigging is a particularly dangerous slur on the subcontinent after federal investigators unearthed widespread illegal betting and corruption by Indian bookmakers and some leading players in 2000.

"I have waited for IPL 2010 to conclude in order to respond to the situation as I did not want the event to be disrupted in any manner," added Manoharin his statement.

The 2010 version of the annual tournament finished with a drama-filled final in front of 50,000 fans on Sunday who saw the Chennai Super Kings beat favourites Mumbai Indians in their home city. -- AFP

EPL: Rooney wins PFA Player of the Year award

LONDON: Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney won the Professional Footballers' Association Player of the Year award at a ceremony on Sunday and then declared his readiness for the World Cup.

Rooney, currently out of action with a groin injury, is widely regarded as being central to England's chances of winning the World Cup in South Africa later this year.

"I'm good," the 24-year-old Rooney told guests at the PFA dinner, in association with Barclays Bank, at the Grosvenor House Hotel in central London. "I'm disappointed to miss a couple of games. Hopefully I will play before the season finishes."

Asked if he'd be fit in time for South Africa, Rooney replied: "No problems for the World Cup."

Rooney dismissed suggestions England could not win the World Cup, which starts in June, without him. "We've got a lot of great players. If I get injured, so be it."

He added: "Watching games is very frustrating."

Rooney, asked what would constitute a successful World Cup for England, said: "Success would be to win the trophy. We prepared well and hopefully we can bring the trophy back home."

England have won the World Cup just once, in 1966 when they triumphed on home soil.

Reigning champions United trail Chelsea by one point in the English Premier League title race with two games remaining and may need a favour from arch rivals Liverpool if they are to overtake the London club.

"I'm sure Liverpool will want to beat Chelsea," Rooney said. "They are a proud club and they are still aiming to qualify for Europe."

Rooney topped a poll of his fellow professionals in England to ensure the senior award stayed at Old Trafford after Portuguese winger Cristiano Ronaldo's double in 2007 and 2008 was followed by United and Wales star Ryan Giggs' success last year.

Cesc Fabregas, the Arsenal and Spain midfielder, was third with Chelsea striker Didier Drogda the runner-up.

Aston Villa and England midfielder James Milner won the Young Player of the Year award.

Former South Africa international Lucas Radebe, who played in England's Leeds United, won the PFA special merit award for his community work in both countries.

The PFA's Premier League team of the year contains four United players with Arsenal (Fabregas and Thomas Vermaelen), Chelsea (Drogba and Branislav Ivanovic) and Aston Villa (Milner and Richard Dunne) supplying two each.

A Transformational Gratitude Attitude: Extending Thanksgiving To Last All Year

Giving thanks for what we have can be more than a prayerful expression of gratitude. When used with appropriate self-treatment techniques, this can be transformative. And it can be a routine that helps us many times a day rather than only once a year.

Many self-improvement approaches to release negative emotions and habits end with the reduction of the problem symptoms. You might think that thanksgiving is appropriate at this point, and to many this is where they stop and celebrate.

It is possible, however, to build much further on the positives in your life. By stimulating the right and left side of your body, while reciting an individualized affirmation, you can program many more strengths and resources into your life for which you will be thankful.

Jessica was truly delighted to find her depression relieved when she used the self-treatment method called WHEE: Whole Health – Easily and Effectively. For years she had moped her way through each day, rather like Eyore (from Christopher Robin) – moaning about all the problems and burdens she was carrying and unable to deal with. Having three children in as many years had utterly drained her. Worse, she was left to carry the major portion of there are when her husband left her for another woman. She was enormously relieved when she released feelings of hurt, anger and betrayal surrounding her divorce, 11 years earlier. It was like a heavy physical burden had been lifted from her shoulders.

Several weeks after the transformative day when she achieved these releases, Jessica was back for further advice on what to do, now that she had more energy. She was frustrated because she still lacked confidence in herself and felt inhibited in talking to new people, worrying that they would see through what she felt was essentially a false new facade of confidence and cheerfulness.

Using WHEE, a potent self-healing method, Jessica was able to install the self-assurance and anticipations of positive receptiveness and responses from new people she would meet. Rather than holding images of criticisms and rejections, she was able to create an image of being welcomed and accepted by people – for her newfound cheerfulness, willingness to listen and be helpful, and many other positive qualities. She was also able to strengthen her willingness to take risks of being rejected, along with other residues of her long-term depression.

We may sometimes be hampered by persistent feelings of resentments, after releasing residual traumatic memories and feelings. Again, strengthening our positive awarenesses and feelings can be a help.

When his brother-in-law was killed in an auto accident, Tim was surprised to find himself deeply missing contact with his own brother, whom he had not seen nor spoken with in more than a decade. The two brothers had been very close in childhood but broke off relations after a bitter argument over an inheritance.

Tom came for therapy to sort out his lingering angers and hurt feelings towards his brother. Though he was surprised at how quickly he was able to release these with WHEE, he still harbored a lingering annoyance that he couldn’t quite identify and that refused to clear when he worked on it without being able to connect with its roots.

It was only when he came to a place of full forgiveness for his brother’s behaviors that Tim realized he needed also to forgive himself. Having cleared his self-blame, he came into a profound place of peace about his relationship with his brother that he had not felt since their falling out. Tim also realized that he had a tendency to focus on negative experiences far more than on positive ones in his life.

Each of these examples is representative of a host of similar cases in which focusing on positives within ourselves can markedly enhance our self-healing. And it does not end there.

The mind is a restless creature, wandering constantly hither and yon, seeking amusements and readily chewing on almost anything that catches its attention. Anxieties and fears actually call for its attention, and it may have difficulty spitting them out, even after they have been well masticated – because many such issues do not lend themselves to normal digestion. It may take an act of will to swallow them down or spit them out and be done with them.

Most of us are much less drawn to focus with such attention on the positives in our lives. By consciously choosing to do so and practicing looking at what is full and satisfying in our glass rather than at what is empty and missing, we can markedly enhance the quality of our lives.

And so, when we have reached a more positive place of being, after releasing negatives and installing positives to replace them, there is place to firm up the positives even further with thanksgiving. Celebrating our achievement in reaching a place of positivity is a first step. Enjoying, even reveling in the positive feelings firms up our abilities to enjoy and stay in the inner spaces and relationships that promote further positive feelings.

Jessica, practicing staying in a positive, self-confident frame of mind, found that people did respond to her with warm welcomes. She went on to be thankful for many more blessings that came into her life – small and large.

Tim, having made peace within himself, went on to make peace with his brother. He, too, was pleased to practice thankfulness – and to catch himself when some of his old habits of latching onto resentments raised its head again. 10 Things You Can Do RIGHT NOW To Increase Your Bench Press FAST

The flat barbell bench press…the lift that everyone wants to know how much you can do when they find out you train. So you want to get your numbers moving in the right direction again? These 10 quick tips will make a difference in your strength and boost your bench fast.

Keep in mind, these tips are coming from someone who has almost NO genetic gifts as far as bench press is concerned (bad shoulders, long arms). It’s among my weakest lifts and I have to struggle for every single pound I add onto it. Yet with those limitations, using the tips I’ll share with you below, I’ve managed to work up to a maximum single at 350 lbs. So it CAN be done!

1. Work your Rotator Cuff muscles

Yes, this is completely unglamorous but it has the potential to add 20 to 30 pounds to your bench press in a matter of weeks. The reason? The Rotator Cuff muscles are the four small muscles that stabilize the humerus (your upper arm bone) in the shoulder socket.

Most people rarely, if ever, work the Rotator Cuff but a couple of sets at the end of each workout can really make a huge difference in your bench press by helping to stabilize the shoulder joint.

The exercise that I use is one I call the “3 In 1 Rotator Cuff Raise.” It’s an exercise I invented to work all 3 major planes of movement that the Rotator Cuff muscles operate in in one basic movement. It’s very effective and very time-efficient. Two sets of 8 reps of this at the end of each workout is all you need.

2. Get your grip-width right

Where you grip the bar can make or break your bench press before you even do a single rep. If you grip the bar in too close, you’re putting more stress on the triceps, which limits your pushing power and increases the distance you have to press the bar. If you grip the bar too wide, you do decrease the distance the bar travels but you put excessive stress on the shoulder joints.

So what is the best place to grip the bar? This is best determined with no weight on the bar at all and with somebody watching your form. Lie down and take the bar off the rack and lower the bar to your chest. Have your spotter eyeball your forearms. At the bottom of the press, your forearms should be perfectly vertical. THAT will give you the greatest pressing power as you won’t lose any power inside or outside.

It’s the same concept as throwing a punch – if the bones of the arm aren’t lined up properly when it connects, you lose a lot of power at impact.

3. Learn how to breathe

When you’re doing a heavy press, trunk stabilization is much more important than when you’re doing lighter, higher-rep training. You need a strong, solid base to push off of to really move the most weight.

When doing a heavy lift for only a few reps, breathe in deeply on the way down, inflating your chest as much as possible (this has the dual effect of increasing the stability of your trunk AND decreasing the distance the bar must travel, which is a bonus!). But as you press the bar off your chest don’t immediately blow out all your air in one big blow. That will destabilize the chest and weaken the base you’re pushing from.

Think of it this way…it would be like trying to do a dumbell press on the Swiss Ball as somebody is letting the air out of it fast!

So as you start to press the weight, blow your air out through pursed lips. Basically, pretend you’re blowing up a really thick balloon. You want to keep your breathing muscles in your rib cage absolutely solid as they very slowly force the air out. This keeps your trunk solid and stabilized as you press, which is critical. The moment you lose that stability, you lose the lift.

4. Don’t neglect back training

Back training is important to your bench press in 3 major ways.

Remember what I said about stability in the previous point? Your back makes up a BIG portion of that base that stabilizes your body. The wider the base, the bigger the structure it can support (i.e. more weight). A comparatively weak back will reduce the amount of weight you can bench.

The second point is thickness. The thicker your back, the shorter the distance the bar has to travel and the more weight you’ll be able to lift. Look at how thick the torsos of the best bench pressers in the world are – they have huge barrel chests, thick backs and relatively short arms – their range of motion is probably about half of what a “normal” person’s range of motion is with the bench press. The thicker your back, the shorter the range of motion and the more weight you’ll be able to press.

The third point is muscular balance. If you’re constantly doing pushing movements, your body will overdevelop those pushing muscles, which will lead to unnatural shortening and potential weakness. You must work the back muscles to pull everything into proper alignment. Walking around with your shoulders hunched forward and your arms bouncing around in front of you doesn’t look cool – I can promise you that.

5. Don’t forget to press with your legs, too

Leg drive is VERY important to maximizing your bench press strength on maximum lifts. When you set your feet for benching, don’t just place them anywhere and let nature take its course. Set your feet solidly on the ground and bend your knees a little past 90 degrees.

Here’s why…when you’re at the bottom of the bench press, driving with the legs can help you get that weight moving. You can demonstrate this to yourself by lying on the flat bench and setting your feet on the ground. Now think of how you’d need to set your feet if you wanted to use your feet/legs to slide yourself up the bench. THAT is what you do when you drive with your legs – you basically try and use your legs to slide yourself up the bench. But because the weight is holding you down, that force goes to helping push the weight up.

This leg drive is used at the bottom of the press to get the weight moving and makes a huge difference with getting big weights moving.

6. Get those shoulder blades squeezed together

This goes back to trunk stability. If you’re not consciously and religiously squeezing your shoulder blades together when you set yourself up on the bench press, you’re instantly putting yourself at a disadvantage.

To do this, lie down on the bench and grab the bar. Lift your body up off the bench then try and touch your shoulder blades together behind your back. Get them tucked in as tight as possible. When you set yourself back down, you’ll find you’re not only more stable on the bench but your shoulders are in a stronger pressing position AND your torso is actually a little thicker (which means shorter range of motion)!

7. Do partial-range training to strengthen your connective tissue

One big thing that’s often missing in the training routine of a person looking to maximize strength is a focus on connective tissue training. You can build huge, strong muscles but the movement is only as strong as the weakest link. If that weakest link is connective tissue, best case is it will limit the amount of weight you can lift. Worst case, you’ll snap your tendons when your muscles move weights that your connective tissue can’t handle!

So how do we strengthen connective tissue? That requires very heavy weight, the kind that can only be used with partial-range training like lockouts in the rack.

For building up your connective tissue specifically for bench press, definitely work on rack lockouts and static holds with monster weight.

Personally, I really enjoy lockout training because you can use a LOT of weight (up to two times or more of your one rep max!).

8. Use training bands

Bands are one of the most useful training tools you can use with the bench press. There are two main ways to go…working AGAINST the bands to increase explosive power and working WITH band assistance to move more weight and more closely mimic the strength curve of the bench press (harder at the bottom, easier at the top).

When using the bands to work on explosive training, you attach them to something solid on the floor and then to the bar. You use a lighter weight on the barbell for these. Then, when you lift, you explode up as fast and as powerfully as you can against the bands. The bands stretch as you come up, slowing the bar so your muscles don’t have to. This teaches your muscles to fire at a much faster rate.

The other method is to use the bands for assistance (called Reverse Band Bench Press). With this technique, you attach the bands to the top of the rack and to the bar below. As you lower the weight, the bands stretch, making the bottom of the press easier by removing some of the resistance. As you press up, the bands lose tension, making you press more of the weight yourself, which exactly mimics the mechanics of the bench press.

9. Don’t forget about decline bench press

One of the best things about the decline bench press is that you can use a bit more weight on it than you can on the regular flat bench due to the change in biomechanics and somewhat decreased range of motion. Working with heavier weight is good in two ways – mentally and physically. Mentally, it helps prepare your mind for working with heavier weight. Physically, it helps prepare your body for handling heavier weight on the flat bench.

10. Do your bench pressing in the power rack

Even if you have access to a regular bench press station at your gym, I highly recommend doing your bench pressing in the rack. Why? Two reasons.

The first is safety. You can easily set the rails to just slightly below the bottom-most position of your bench press. If you can’t finish a rep, you just set the bar on the rails, roll the bar forward and slide yourself out from under it. No harm done, no spotter necessary. You can’t do that on a regular bench press station!

The second is the freedom to really push yourself without fear of dropping the weight and not being able to get out from under the bar. When you’re in a regular free bench press station, there is always that nagging fear that if you don’t make a lift, you’re going to have the bar come down on you.

When you do your pressing in the rack with safety rails set, that will NEVER happen and you can really free yourself to push things to the limits without having to worry about crushing yourself under the bar!

I have always found it ironic that the station where people do one of the most dangerous exercises in the gym (and quite often lift more weight than they can safely handle on it!) is the one station that has almost NO safety measures built into it!

Think about it this way…when was the last time you saw somebody get crushed under a barbell curl, yet how many times do you see people doing curls in the rack while doing bench presses on a free station!

So basically, set yourself free and do your pressing in the rack. You can push yourself harder and fight through those sticking points without worrying about getting stuck under the bar if you don’t get it.

The Internet Has Dangers That You Must Know About

There is one thing that you can always count on when it comes to humanity. The ability to always build and create new and exciting things that will always be used for many different purposes. Recently, a group of experts convened to determine the most useful Invention of the last century, and the result was unanimous. The Internet was hands down deemed the most useful invention ever created. More people than ever have used the vastly growing Internet for so many different purposes there is scarcely enough space to write them. Suffice it to say that if you can think of something, you can likely find it online someplace. If you take a step back and think about, the Internet has grown far beyond its original purposes. Originally the Internet was created to share information between researchers at various universities. Of course, over the years it has consistently grown in both scope and use. Having grown beyond a mere tool to be used by researchers, virtually everybody today can find a use for the massively growing Internet.Downloading movies, listening to music, live, face to face chatting with friends and relatives are all commonplace activities today. If you only imagine, just for a little bit, what the Internet will be like in five years, the results can be mind boggling indeed. Certain activities may become obsolete, as they are discovering more and quicker ways to deliver information online. There is, however, one evil thing that has grown just as swiftly as the Internet, and that is spyware, adware and other software bent on destruction. These are programs that are designed to be installed onto your computer without your knowledge, and without your consent. These software programs have a variety of intentions, ranging from simple snooping, to outright destruction of your data. What is the method through which these get installed on your computer in the first place? Often they come secretly placed inside some other software that may have been advertised as free. Simple desktop applications like calendars and other things can actually contain spyware that launches whenever you launch the program. This generally is so the developer can earn some income and give away free software at the same time. The best way to protect yourself is to make sure you have a solid anti spyware and adware program up and running. Most of these programs will actively defend your computer against attack, and you’ll never have to worry again. After you’ve installed some suitable software, you can feel free to surf to your heart’s content. Ten Ways How to Avoid Scams in Home Business Ideas

The home business industry is booming particularly now that the global economies are shrinking and companies are downsizing. People are looking for other income opportunities and particularly ones that do take demand too much time input.

Having done a lot of research prior to opting for the business that the writer is in right now, this is a quick list of 10 things to look out for:-

1). If the landing page is full or razzle and different colours offering to make you rich, run for the hills.

2). If there is no details of who the person is that is offering you something, run for the hills. Beware of people that hide behind pages without putting their names and their faces on the same page that they ask for you to enter your details.

3). Make sure that the business you look to do means something to you. Make sure that it resonates with you. If you are not really interested in what you do, you will drop it when the first hurdle comes along.

4). Due diligence on the company and its products. This is not just limited to goggling them. Find out where they are based and call the local area business bureau and find out if any negative press has been written about them. Go deeper.

5). Beware of big money promises. Most people that say they have made millions on the internet have not made anywhere near that. Beware even if they post copies of cheques and pictures of income statements. Get you own feeling and trust it.

6). Trust your gut feeling. If something does not feel right or credible from the beginning – walk away. If it sounds too good to be true it usually is.

7). Try to find a product that has an ongoing value for you. Some products you can use and re-use and keep using them. Some have communities that you can be a part of for no extra charge and listen to and mix with other successful people in the same industry.

8). Make sure that you have a mentor. Making sure that you have a good mentor that will always be there for you is important to your success. Online business can be a bit lonely at times, so look for a mentor who will always give you time and mastermind with you especially in the beginning when you are clueless.

9). Once you find a business idea that you like – just go for it. Take action. Not taking action is what got you to where you are today – looking for a business. So just take action once you find something that you like.

10). Finally, KISS. Keep it simple stupid. Don’t look for something that has loads and loads of income streams with the thought that if one does not work, the other will. Keep it simple. Stick with it and be consistent and persistent and you will have success in time.

Isometrics Is The Perfect Exercise For The Morbidly Obese

There’s a myth that people who need to lose a significant amount of weight can only do so with strenuous, high intensity, high impact exercise. But a myth is exactly what it is. Isometrics can be the perfect exercise for the morbidly obese, since many of the exercises can be done while sitting; physical limitations are no barrier to success.

According to the owner of one popular fitness center, at least 35% of her clients need to lose upwards of 35 pounds – and about half of those need to lose 100 pounds or more.

So … does she force them onto treadmills and “torture chamber” gym equipment? Does she make them run endless laps around a track? Does she close her eyes to their physical limitations and shout, “No pain, no gain!” at them until they are reduced to tears and give up, disgusted and disheartened by failure, once again?

No way! She starts them on a program of isometric exercise. Then, she stands back and watches them beam with pleasure when, within the first week to 10 days, they have lost inches … have increased energy levels … and have safely started dropping pounds.

People who are seriously overweight often have many physical limitations. One of the most common problems is “bad knees,” which impair and restrict the ability to stand for any period of time or to easily move about. As well as bad knees, the morbidly obese suffer from shortness of breath … low energy levels … and burn very few of the calories they take in with their meals. Unburned calories turn into new fat cells, triggering an ever-increasing spiral of failure and despair, with apparently no way out.

But there is a way out – and that way is isometric exercise. Is anyone going to lose 35 pounds and several dress sizes in the first week? Certainly not! But you have to start somewhere, and the several pounds and one or two inches normally lost in the first week of an isometric exercise program is an excellent beginning. The encouraging thrill of success, alone, is priceless, considering how often the first week of a standard, high-stress exercise program only results in sore, painful muscles, without anything to show for it.

Most of the effective isometric exercises can be done while seated in a chair. And even those designed for standing can be adapted for a seated position, should someone require it.

Another really good aspect of an isometric program for the morbidly obese is that through use of a DVD, the exercise can be done whenever you want, in the comfort and privacy of your own home. That means no sneers and contemptuous looks from “gym bodies” in public workout centers … and it also means that if the best workout time for you is Midnight, all you have to do is to slide the DVD in and go to it.

If you or someone you know is morbidly obese and thinks that you’re just “stuck” being that way, check out isometric exercise and experience healthy successFree Reprint Articles, for a change.

Alexander Zass - Isometrics Exerciser

Alexander Zass, who was also known as the -- Amazing Samson -- is considered being the father of present day isometric exercise.

It can be claimed he developed his outstanding physique while a prisoner of war. He had been chained by his hands and legs, and also the only exercise he could do was pushing and pulling against his chains. In reality, an isometric contraction. Following his escape from jail, he became a circus strongman and traveled all close to Europe engaging in feats of strength.

Strangely enough, Alexander Zass turned down to perform feats of power that demanded lifting weights. In fact, most men and women of his day believed he developed his body by using free weights. On the other hand, Alexander Zass would openly refute that his strength was the result of weightlifting.

Bodybuilders of that time ended up extremely angry with his statements.

The thing is all of them suspected that he had produced his physique and power by weight lifting. And that accounted for his expertise to do strongman tricks such as -- bursting chains that were wrapped around his chest. Little did they realize that he developed the skill although a prisoner of war.

Here's Some Extra Details Regarding Zass

Zass, born in Poland however afterwards moved to Russia. Was seized by the German military during WW 1 and locked up. Ultimately, he escaped prison and went back to Russia.

Little is known concerning his childhood days. Aside from the fact he first became amazed with power and powerful men -- when the circus came into town. Seeing the circus artists stimulated young Zass to begin working out. At first, he would climb trees to gain muscle in his upper body. Eventually he created a few barbells and dumbbells and started out exercising along.

He was one of the first individuals who spoke about the idea of developing "Tendon Power." In the book... "Samson Systems and Methods" he expounded on the notion that in order to be really powerful the tendons -- should be as strong or stronger than your muscles. That is what probably lead to his creation of isometric exercise. He came to the conclusion that to be able to become powerful you must develop your connective tissues -- the tendons , prior to concentrating on strengthening the muscle fibers.

He reasoned that the finest method to accomplish this was isometric exercises.

One of the interesting stuff that occurred to him while in prison (because he fled so regularly) is they located guards in the cell with him. Sadly, for them it failed to do the job.

It really is safe to think that it can be in jail where he discovered how to break chains. Afterwards he developed an isometric work out that used a chain like gadget. He also published a training program and educational training course that detailed his utilization of isometrics employing chains.

Following the war, he went to London and performed his amazing feats of power. The newspapers gave him the name -- Amazing Samson. He instantly grew to be a celebrity of his time. As a resultScience Articles, he enjoyed a boom in the sale of his training courses and isometric exercise programs.

Why Emmanuel Adebayor must show Arsenal what they've been missing at the Emirates this weekend

Emmanuel Adebayor has the chance to show Arsenal what they are missing this weekend, when he travels to his former club for the first time since his his acrimonious move to Manchester City last summer.

When the two sides met at Eastlands last September, in City's dramatic 4-2 win, Adebayor was the villain of the piece, racing the length of the pitch to goad Arsenal's fans after scoring and raking his studs down the face of former team-mate Robin van Persie.

Adebayor was subsequently punished for both incidents, but since then his season has been equally turbulent, with injury, further suspensions and the trauma of the gun attack on the Togo team bus at the African Nations' Cup making it a campaign he will want to forget.

But with four games to go, starting with Saturday's trip to The Emirates to face his old club, Adebayor can turn a season of frustration and under-achievement into one of success, by inspiring City to win the race for fourth and clinch a Champions League spot for the first time.

To do that he must cope with the inevitable abuse that awaits him at Arsenal, where his volatile temperament will be tested to the limit by the sustained vitriol aimed his way.

Much of it Adebayor has brought upon himself, with his outspoken remarks about Arsenal and why he had to leave, but he has the chance to have the last laugh on his baiters - by showing them what a class act they let go.

How Arsenal could have done with Adebayor this season, with Robin van Perise out of action for the past five months and Nicklas Bendtner a willing, if inadequate, replacement up front.

Many Premier League defenders, Manchester United's Rio Ferdinand among them, have identified Adebayor as the toughest striker to play against, because of his movement, quick feet and ability to drift all over the pitch and threaten from a variety of positions.

The time has come for Adebayor to justify that esteem in which he is held by his fellow pros by showcasing his enormous ability and consigning the ugly side of his game to the past once and for all. The Emirates would not be a bad place to start.

Can Corry Evans and United's title-winning reserves emulate Becks, Scholes and the Nevilles?

The financial plight of Manchester United under the Glazers means the days of spending exorbitant sums on inflated transfer fees are over.

Signing and developing young players, as well as nurturing talent from within their ranks, is the way forward, which is why a first reserves title for United in four years is such a significant achievement.

It has long been said the FA Youth Cup-winning Class of '92, which produced David Beckham, Paul Scholes, Nicky Butt and the Neville brothers, will never be replicated.

And while that might be true, that generation of United stars coming through at the same time a one-off, there is enough evidence to suggest several of the current crop have what it takes to establish themselves at first-team level.
Click here to find out more!

The transition from United youth or reserve team player to first-team regular is a difficult one, with many youngsters falling into the black hole in between, eventually moving to a club where the expectation level is not so high.

But the likes of centre-half Corry Evans, brother of United defender Jonny, full back Ritchie De Laet, midfielder Oliver Norwood and striker Fabien Brandy, have suggested they have what it takes to make the step up to the first-team and not be daunted by the prospect.

United reserve team coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has done an impressive job in landing the title, particularly with Sir Alex Ferguson needing to raid his squad on a regular basis to fill his bench in what has been an injury-ravaged season for United's first-team.

The big question now is whether United's stars of tomorrow can justify their hype and show they are genuine first-team material or merely being developed so other clubs can eventually profit from their talent.

Forget Moyes and O'Neill - Mourinho is the only man who can replace Fergie at United

How do you solve a problem like Fergie?

That's the dilemma facing the Manchester United hierarchy as they face up to the very real prospect of Sir Alex Ferguson finally calling it a day.

Predicting when Fergie will eventually call time on his glittering Old Trafford dynasty has become football's equivalent of pin the tail on the donkey.

Second-guessing Fergie's intentions when it comes to stepping down has become a worthless exercise, with no-one - least of all the man himself - absolutely certain of when D-Day will arrive.
Click here to find out more!

As long as his health allows him, so Fergie has said on many occasions, he has no reason to stand down. And why should he walk away while United remain such a formidable force?

But the day will eventually come when United must take unquestionably the most difficult decision in their illustrious history - how to replace arguably football's greatest-ever manager?

He may be irascible, he may be irksome, but Fergie's record is unparalleled, which is why United chief executive David Gill and the Old Trafford board are dreading the day he finally says he has had enough.

But a contingency plan must be in place for that seismic day, and while Gill claims no plans are in place to find Fergie's successor because there is no immediate suggestion of him stepping down, the subtle process of recruiting a suitable replacement has already begun.

Such is the magnitude of the United job that there are only a handful of candidates with the requisite experience and stature to take over from Fergie and give themselves a fighting chance of maintaining United's remarkable success of the past two decades.

A series of names have been bandied about as United-managers-in-waiting, including Fabio Capello, Guus Hiddink, Martin O'Neill, Louis van Gaal, Laurent Blanc and David Moyes.

But there is only one man with the CV, ego and self-belief to take on the job and - crucially - not be intimidated by the achievements of his peerless predecessor.

Step forward Jose Mourinho.

The populist argument is that Mourinho does not play the cavalier football that is a prerequisite of being United manager, that he would not be true to the swashbuckling tradition of the club's great teams of the past.

What utter rubbish. Would United fans rather play thrilling football but come up short in their pursuit of the major prizes they have grown accustomed to accumulating under Fergie?

Or would they rather have as Fergie's successor a coach with a proven track record in winning wherever he goes, despite not playing the easiest football on the eye?

Of course, they would rather have both, play majestic football AND win silverware, but given a choice between the two it would be trophies every time, regardless of the style of play.

After all, what merit is there in being an Arsenal, gaining plaudits for style but ending every season with nothing to show for it?

Mourinho is the only manager to have consistently got the better of Fergie - something in itself which should mark him down as the overwhelming candidate to take over from the United boss.

He has won titles in Portugal, England and Italy, and may yet become only the third boss to win the Champions League with two different clubs this season if he can take Inter Milan all the way.

He has succeeded where other bosses - notably Fergie in last year's Champions League final and Arsene Wenger in this season's knockout stage - have failed, in dismantling Barcelona's total football with a tactical masterclass in Inter's 3-1 semi-final first-leg win, coming, it should also be noted, from 1-0 down against Lionel Messi and co.

Of the other candidates, Capello, Hiddink and van Gaal - all in or nearing their 60s - would be short-term solutions, while Moyes and Blanc, despite having done impressive jobs at Everton and Bordeaux respectively, have not yet proved themselves at the highest level.

And it is hard to see Wayne Rooney playing under Moyes again, after the pair fell out in spectacular fashion following the United striker's criticism of his former boss in his autobiography, a matter that was later settled out of court with the England striker paying substantial damages.

O'Neill put himself in the frame with his achievements at Celtic and his nurturing of home-grown talent at Aston Villa, taking them to the brink of the top four, but he may also lack the unique strength of character to take on a job the size of United.

So it inevitably comes back to one man - the Special One. Mourinho has made no secret of his disillusionment with life in Italy, from where he will move on this summer, with Real Madrid his likely destination.

Manchester City have the cash to lure Mourinho with the biggest salary in world football, as well as the spending power in the transfer market he enjoyed under Roman Abramovich at Chelsea, but his abrasive style would not sit easily with the club's Abu Dhabi owners.

So should he go to Madrid, as seems increasingly likely, the inherent instability at the Bernabeu means United would not worry unduly at Mourinho being unavailable when Fergie eventually does retire.

That, coupled with Mourinho's publicly-declared desire to return to England one day, with United his first-choice, means the Old Trafford hierarchy know they could get their man, regardless of where he may be employed at the time.

Now for the small matter of determining when the Laird of Old Trafford will finally call it a day. Anyone got a pin for that donkey's tail?

Van Nistelrooy tells Berbatov: "Don't quit United"

Ruud van Nistelrooy has told Dimitar Berbatov stick it out at Manchester United, despi

Manchester-United-Chelsea-Dimtar-Berbatov-cropped

te his Old Trafford nightmare.

The Hamburg striker said: "I can empathise with his situation. He cost £30million, there were big expectations and they haven't been met so far.

"He isn't playing regularly - he plays but not always - so, of course, that's a disappointment because expectations are sky high.

"But I think that, when he has the support of the manager and the lads, that he should just carry on and turn it around.

"I don't think he should leave yet. This is his second year so I think that he should give it another year at least - I wouldn't leave United that easily. I know what its like when you've left - when it's gone it doesn't come back anymore."

Van Nistelrooy, 33, responded to the pressure of being England's most expensive player - at £19m - by scoring 36 goals in his first season at Old Trafford.

Berbatov, however, continues to struggle with his huge price tag and has hit just 12 goals this season.

Van Nistelrooy quit United four years ago after five glittering years in which he hit 150 goals in 219 appearances.

The Dutchman's goals clinched the Premier League, FA Cup and Carling Cup. But Berbatov has played only a fringe role in the club's trophy bid this season and has been linked with a move to AC Milan.

Yet Van Nistelrooy, who swapped Old Trafford for Real Madrid and won two La Liga titles has urged Berbatov to enjoy his time at United while he can.

He said: "I had a fantastic time at United. I will remember five unbelievable years, from (age) 25 to 30.

"But I was lucky. I was lucky to play with Madrid, which is probably (on a par) with United.

"Where can you go after United? Probably there's only Madrid. Any other thing isn't the same.

"And now I know what it is. On Tuesday I was watching the Champions League and today I'm preparing for a Europa League semi-final.

"That's it, it doesn't come back. I'm lucky to be in the Europa League and am obviously enjoying that moment, but playing for those kind of clubs is a one-off for a player
